Recreational Pot Fails To Make November Ballot

Craig citizens will not have the opportunity to vote to approve recreational marijuana sales and cultivation in the city during the upcoming election. At their meeting Tuesday night, the Craig City Council declined to move forward with three ballot questions concerning recreational marijuana sales, and taxes. Craig Mayor John Ponikvar said the council decided not to advance the process of getting the ballot questions approved. Approval of the ballot questions would have required the council to have a special meeting and go through numerous other steps before the ballot deadline of September 8th. The news was met with scorn by the pro recreational marijuana group “The Committee to Grow Craig”.  On Facebook group members called for a boycott of the businesses owned by council members, especially those they felt they helped to elect.
