A power outage took out most of Craig and Hayden Saturday afternoon. Yampa Valley Electric officials have yet to give an official cause for the outage, however an employee this morning said she was under the impression that the Thompson Hill Substation failed. It’s not clear though, if the problem originated from X-Cel Energy, or if it was a local issue. The substation controls power in both Craig and Hayden. Some residents of Steamboat also reported power outages on Saturday, but it’s not clear if they are related. The power went down at about 2:30 stayed down for about an hour and a half. The lights were back on by 4. The outage took 93-7/102-3 KRAI and 55 Country off the air. Power has since been restored.
