Pot Growers May Soon Find Limits on Greenhouse Growing

MARIJUANA-300Colorado’s pot regulators are trying to make sure the state’s marijuana growers aren’t producing more pot than they can legally sell – a hedge against state-grown pot ending up in places where it’s not legal. But new marijuana production standards up for public review yesterday sparked a lively debate. The state is considering limiting greenhouses to growing fewer pot plants than indoor warehouses. Industry lobbyists and state regulators say the caps are necessary to prevent runaway marijuana growing beyond what licensed marijuana dispensaries can sell. Smaller pot growers complain that the greenhouse limits serve only to protect the market for deep-pocketed industry veterans that started before greenhouse and outdoor pot growing was allowed. The Department of Revenue will ultimately decide how to adjust production caps.
