A rural Click it or Ticket campaign began yesterday in Colorado. The Colorado State Patrol is partnering with local police to heighten seat belt enforcement in rural communities through this weekend. Seat belt usage in rural Colorado is low when compared to more urban areas of the state. The campaign will enforce the fact that no matter where you are driving in Colorado, seat belt use is important. Not wearing a seat belt is not only dangerous for the individual but also for their fellow passengers. Un-belted rear seat passengers increase the fatality risk for the driver by nearly 140 percent. In 2014, seat belts saved an estimated 12,800 lives nationwide, including 169 in Colorado.
