The pilot who crashed his plane near Rabbit Ears Pass last month has reportedly admitted he did it on purpose. Mark Darling of Eaton conducted an interview with a television station in which he told the interviewer he was grieving the passing of his son a couple of years ago, and made a split decision to fly his plane into the mountain. He said in the interview that he didn’t get so much as a bruise or a scratch in the crash. He says he regrets his decision. He was flying from Baggs to Greeley when the crash occurred. Routt and Grand County Search and rescue teams pulled Darling from the mountain.
