BRACKETS RELEASED FOR 1ST ROUND OF 3A STATE TOURNAMENT
The 3A State Championship Basketball boys and girls brackets have been released by CHSAA. Both Moffat County teams will host regional qualifying tournaments at Moffat County High School beginning Friday. In first round games the girls, who are seeded at number 6, will play Middle Park, the number 27 seed at 6 pm. The Moffat County boys, who are seeded number 5, will play a Denver school Sheridan, the number 28 seed at 7:30. Bishop Machebeuf, also from Denver, will attend with both their boys and girls teams. The Academy girls from Westminster, and the Fort Lupton boys will each play Machebeuf teams on the other side of the brackets at the Moffat County tournament. Only the team that wins each regional qualifying tournament will advance to the great-eight games on February 13th at the Air Force Academy. 93.7 102.3 KRAI and KRAI.COM will carry live play-by-play of ALL Moffat County games.
Meeker, SoRoCo and Rangely Teams Advance To Regional Play
The Meeker boys and girls basketball teams head into the regional tournament in Palisade this week. In first round action, the girls will play Nucla, the boys will play Resurrection Christian. Also at the tournament in Palisade are the SoRoCo girls who will play Sangre de Cristo. The Rangely boys were placed at a tournament in Durango at Fort Lewis High School where they will face Sangre de Cristo in round 1. The regional brackets for the boys and girls.

PARKS AND WILDLIFE COMMISSION TO MEET IN DENVER
The Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission will meet March 6 and 7 to finalize 2014 park pass regulations and state wildlife area property rules. Commissioners will also receive briefings on water management, landowner voucher changes, and the public meetings held around the state to gather information on big game season structure for 2015-2019.
The March meeting will be held at the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Hunter Education Classroom at 6060 Broadway in Denver beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 6 and is scheduled to adjourn shortly before noon on Friday, March 7. A complete agenda can be found online.
Other items on the March meeting agenda include a Thursday morning overview of real estate proposals to protect key wildlife habitat. Thursday afternoon, Commissioners will be updated on the Colorado Parks and Wildlife boating safety program and appoint a representative to the River Outfitter Advisory Committee. Friday morning’s agenda includes an updated on the State Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP) as well as an update on agency work to develop a management strategy for Western Slope mule deer populations. Commissioners will also hear from lead biologists about efforts to enhance populations of greater sage-grouse, Gunnison sage-grouse and lesser prairie chicken.
The Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission sets regulations and policies for Colorado’s state parks and wildlife programs. The Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission meets monthly and travels to communities around the state to facilitate public participation in its processes. In 2014, the commission is scheduled to hold meetings in Salida, Grand Junction, Alamosa, Meeker, Fort Collins, Glenwood Springs, Burlington and Colorado Springs.

MOFFAT COUNTY BOYS AND GIRLS DISTRICT CHAMPS!
The Moffat County girls beat Olathe 47-44 in the District Championship game. The girls will host a 4 team regional tournament next weekend at Moffat County High School.
The Moffat County boys defeated Aspen 62-54 in the District Championship game. The boys will also host a 4 team regional tournament next weekend at Moffat County High School.
MEEKER GIRLS DISTRICT CHAMPS!
The Meeker girls beat Paonia for the District Championship 55-39.
The Meeker boys fell to Paonia 69-57 taking 2nd place at Districts.
The SoRoCo girls lost to Hotchkiss 58-51 taking 4th place at Districts.
The Rangely boys lost West Grand 54-52 taking 4th place at Districts.
