Governor Matt Mead selected Ed Buchanan, a former Wyoming secretary of state candidate and Laramie County prosecutor, to become Wyoming’s next secretary of state. Buchanan will serve the remainder of Ed Murray’s term, after he stepped down last month when he was accused of sexual misconduct. In a news release, Mead said Buchanan’s experience in the Legislature, military career and job as an attorney and prosecutor made him a good choice for the office. Buchanan is expected to be sworn into office Monday. Buchanan says his first goal is to make sure the state is ready for that upcoming election season as a whole and to continue the great customer service the office is known for. In the long term, Buchanan says he hopes to educate the public about the rules and regulations created by state agencies.
