Dogs will no longer be allowed off leash at parks in Moffat County. The Moffat County Commissioners adopted new regulations for the county’s parks at their meeting yesterday. The new rules remove voice control as an acceptable means of animal control and establish a maximum leash length of 8 feet for all animals within the parks. Moffat County Sheriff KC Hume says his office receives at least half a dozen animal complaints a week from people recreating at Loudy Simpon Park. Hume believes the changes will allow his office to better protect the public at the county’s parks and will help prevent the Sheriff’s Department from wasting its limited resources. Anyone caught violating the regulations will be subject to a $25 fine for the first offense, $150 for the second and $300 for the third.
