A consultant for the Meeker National Register Historic District will be speaking at a public presentation tomorrow night at the Meeker Town Hall, concerning the National Historic District designation for downtown Meeker. The presentation will focus on economic development, tax credit and grant eligibility benefits that would come from having the downtown area designate a National Historic district. The Historic designation of downtown Meeker has been endorsed by History Colorado, and was subsequently approved by the Colorado State Review Board in January of this year. The U.S. Department of the Interior is expected to make a final decision on whether or not to designate downtown Meeker as a National Historic District sometime this spring. Additional information on the meeting and the National Historic District designation process is available here.
