The Moffat County Balloon Festival is under way. Balloon launches are scheduled for 6:30 Saturday and Sunday mornings, weather permitting. Saturday is the big day, with a pancake breakfast scheduled for 7. At 10 people can enjoy a story hour and a chance to meet the woodcarvers who will be participating in carving demonstrations throughout the day. The pie eating contest starts at 11, and a money pit for kids 13 and under at 3. The healthy family fun treasure hunt starts at noon. There will also be food and craft vendors and free wagon rides throughout the day. At 5:30 the chainsaw carvings will be auctioned off, and at 6:30 Eliminator, a ZZ Top tribute band, will play. The balloon glow is scheduled for 8:15 Saturday night. All events take place at Loudy Simpson Park. There is no charge to attend the balloonfest, however organizers are asking people to bring a non-perishable food item for the Community Kitchen. For more information, click here.
