The Moffat County Commissioners voted yesterday to make January “Human Trafficking and Stalking Awareness Month” in Moffat County. The proclamations were presented to the Commissioners by Members of “Advocates Crisis Support Services” of Craig. Human trafficking awareness month provides an opportunity to recognize the roll that “Colorado Citizens play in preventing, reporting, and adjudicating these heinous crimes.” It is estimated that as many as 20 million men, woman and children are involved in human trafficking around the world. Stalking awareness month is aimed at bring public awareness to the “nature, criminality, and potential lethality of stalking.” It’s estimated that as many as 7.5 million people are stalked in the United States per year, and that 3 in 4 woman murdered by their intimate partner had been stalked prior to their death.
