The Moffat County Commissioners accepted a unanimous recommendation from the County’s Employee Health Insurance Board at their weekly meeting yesterday to continue with CareHere, a company based in Nashville Tennessee, that currently operates the County’s medical clinic. The contract with CareHere is around $240,000 annually. The County had solicited bids from the Memorial Hospital and Yampa Valley Medical Center to operated the clinic. Bids from both hospitals were about $30 thousand dollars higher than the CareHere contract. After the bids were received The Memorial Hospital recalculated and resubmitted their bid at $205 thousand a year to run the clinic. However, this second bid did not fulfill the county’s request for proposal process, so it could not be accepted by the county. The County Commissioners agreed that while they would like to keep the money for the clinic within the county, accepting The Memorial Hospitals second bid would set a bad precedent. The Commissioners stated that they plan to reopen the bidding process before their contract with CareHere expires in May of next year.
