More than 100 community, business and non profit leaders attended a meeting yesterday hosted by Moffat County regarding the county’s priority based budgeting process. Information was presented at the meeting that clarified the steps in priority based budgeting and demonstrated how the process has been used to save numerous municipalities money. Presenters went over strategic partnerships that cities, using priority based budgeting, had undertaken to shift resources to their most important budget items. The next step in the priority based budgeting process, is for the County to explore potential partnerships with other public and private entities, which would permit the entities to administer some services currently provided by Moffat County. If any of these partnerships are deemed feasible, the county will then be able to take the money saved and allocate it to different areas of their budget.
