Meetings will be held next week in Steamboat and Craig to discuss upcoming rate changes for Yampa Valley Electric customers. The rate changes will happen in two phases, with the first coming the beginning of next month, and the other increase happening July of next year. Most residential customers can expect an increase of about $4 a month in 2017 with an increase of $3 per month in 2018. Rate increases for commercial customers will vary depending on how much electricity they use and the classification the business receives through YVEA. Irrigation customers will see little increase to their energy charge, but will be subjected to a System Access Charge increase of $142 a year in 2018 and 2019. Two meetings will be held Monday for the general public at the YVEA corporate office in Steamboat starting at 10 and 2, with a meeting for YVEA irrigation members starting at 6 the same day, at the Clarion in Craig.
