Colorado Parks and Wildlife welcomed nine new members to the Colorado Sportsmens Roundtable, a group of both elected and appointed representatives who serve as liaisons between sportsmen and the agency, during a statewide meeting in Buena Vista last week. One of those was Meeker’s Dan Schwartz. The Roundtable is a valuable opportunity for hunters, anglers and CPW leadership to discuss priorities and issues affecting the future of wildlife in the state. Recently, their discussions have included managing future financial challenges such as an aging infrastructure, population growth and wildlife declines and the loss of wildlife habitat, while budgets are stagnant or declining. The Colorado Sportsmen’s Roundtable gathers twice each year with CPW officials to provide feedback about a broad range of interests related to hunting, fishing and trapping in Colorado. These interests include, but are not limited to, small and big game hunting, sport fishing, sportsmen-dependent businesses, and habitat protection.
