Measure To Replace Hayden School Passed After Rrecount

The recount has been completed on Hayden Ballot measure 3A, which confirmed the unofficial results, with the vote tally ending with 431 votes for and 429 votes against. Now that the measure has been approved, the Hayden school district will apply for a “BEST Grant” through the Colorado Department of Education, worth $40 million, which will require a $20 million match from the Hayden School District. If the grant application is approved, Hayden property taxes will then increase by $234 a year for a home worth $200 thousand. The combined $60 million dollars from the grant and property tax increase will then go towards replacing the Hayden Secondary School. The Department of Education had previously ranked Hayden’s secondary school in the top 5% of schools in Colorado that needed to be replaced.
