UPDATE 2: Search Crews Find Body Of Missing Man

The body of a man, who was contacted by Steamboat Police late Sunday night, was found Monday afternoon in the Yampa River. The 22-year-old was last seen entering the river, following the exchange with officers. Police initially contacted the man after he was accused of attempting to steal a purse. While being interviewed, the man fled the scene on foot, jumping in the Yampa River to escape. A police officer immediately attempted to catch the man in the water but the suspect pushed the officer away and swam towards the middle of the river. A search for the man was initiated that night but was called off around 2:30 in the morning.  Crews continued their search of the river Monday and found the man’s body submerged in the river near the Steamboat Golf Club. His Identity has not been released
