A Craig man was convicted of five felonies last week, including three counts of sexual assault on a child showing a pattern of abuse. 39-year-old Johnnie Ellifritz was found guilty Friday of molesting a young teenage girl. The illicit activity occurred over a three-year period, while the girl was between 12 and 15 years old. Ellefritz faces 8 years to life in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced June 11th, which will follow a pre-sentence investigation and psycho-sexual evaluation, per Colorado law. In a statement, Assistant District Attorney Matt Karzen, said that child sexual assault is a top priority for the 14th Judicial District of Colorado. Karzen praised the courage demonstrated by the young victim and her family, and also thanked the jurors for their hard work over the course of the trial.
