A Hayden man 40-year-old Clifton Riele was arrested for DUI early Wednesday morning after leading police on a high-speed pursuit. According to a representative with the Routt County Sheriff’s office, Hayden Police were attempting to contact Riele, but lost track of him when he sped away in his car. Reile was finally spotted on Highway 40 by a Routt County Deputy, who pursued his vehicle. The officer was eventually forced to abandon the pursuit due to public safety concerns as the chase had reached speeds close to 100 miles per hour. Sheriff’s deputies eventually found Riele’s vehicle crashed into a snow bank on County Road 33A. Riele was arrested for DUI, reckless driving, and eluding, in addition to other charges.
