Lost Solar Fire Continues To Grow

FireDespite favorable weather conditions this week, the lightning started Lost Solar Fire burning in the Flat Top Wilderness Area approximately 25 miles east of Meeker, has continued to increase in size.  The fire is estimated at just under 7 square miles, an increase of over 1.5 square miles since Monday.  The Lost Solar Fire is being managed using a ‘confine and contain’ strategy which allows crews to monitor the fire from a safe distance, reducing exposure to unnecessary risk.  Crews are also preparing structures near the fire in the event they are threatened.  Due to the fires expansion, additional areas have been closed to the public.  A complete list of closed areas along with a link to website with current fire information is available below.

Closures include Trail #1828 Lost Solar Creek from its junction with trail #1827 South Fork to the junction of trail #1825 Oyster Lake. Also trail #1825 Oyster Lake from the junction with trail #1828 Lost Solar Creek west to the junction with #2254 Fowler Creek. Trail #2254 Fowler Creek between its junction with trail # 2253 Fowler Bench and trail #1825 Oyster Lake. Park Creek Trail #1829 will remain open for now.
