Lawmakers Move Bill to Ban Red Light Cameras Forward

TRAFFIC CAMERASpeeding and red-light cameras would be banned under a measure from Colorado lawmakers. The proposal faced its first vote in a House committee yesterday. The idea has been pitched before but has failed despite bipartisan support. Law enforcement opposes the bill, saying the cameras improve public safety. But lawmakers who support the bill worry the cameras are being used as revenue generators. Ten states prohibit the use of photo radar or red-light camera enforcement, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.
