Those planning to play or relax outdoors during the upcoming Labor Day weekend are reminded that the potential for wildfires to get out of hand is still very real. Despite recent rains, forest and parks managers urge visitors to use caution with campfires. Always make sure your fire is attended, and make sure the coals are completely out before going to bed or leaving the area. You should also keep a shovel and a bucket of water on hand, for hot embers that might escape your fire pit. It’s also wise to make sure all food is sealed up tight and locked away in a vehicle to avoid attracting unwanted wildlife.
