Cases of COVID-19 continue to go up in both Moffat and Routt counties. Moffat County has 121 cases, with 28 active, according to the county’s COVID-19 dashboard. Dr. Elise Sullivan is a family physician at Memorial Regional Health. She says she has recently had patients test positive for COVID.

Some of Dr. Sullivan’s younger patients have had to have oxygen at home during and after infection, and two others were admitted to the hospital. Dr. Sullivan is asking the Moffat County community to please wear a mask or face covering.

In Routt County, commissioners have voted to voluntarily move the county to Safer at Home – Level 3/Orange which is the “High Risk” category. Routt County’s positive case count is up to 302, according to the county, with 64 cases in a week and 90 cases in two weeks. Meanwhile, the state’s count has Routt at 309 cases. At least 14 students at Steamboat Springs High School have tested positive which has put 236 students in quarantine. The school is closed until at least Thanksgiving.

In the West Grand school district in Kremmling, grades three through 8 will transition to remote learning today through Thanksgiving because of a positive case on the staff of the school. Grades K-2 start online learning next week.

Routt County is no longer under Stage 2 Fire Restrictions. Commissioners voted unanimously to rescind the restrictions on all private and state lands as of noon. They ask that you still be aware of fire danger.

Hikers and bikers who enter a state park without their car, now have to pay $4 for an individual daily pass. It is a way to have all visitors help with park maintenance. This includes Elkhead Reservoir outside of Craig, Pearl Lake and Steamboat Lake in North Routt, Stagecoach, and Yampa River State Park outside of Hayden

It is Veterans Day. Moffat County Commissioners have declared today Veterans Appreciation Day in Moffat County. Commissioners would like everyone to honor the veterans who have served the country, both past and present. Moffat County Veterans were not able to have their regular ceremony at the high school today but they did have a flag-raising ceremony this morning at Sunset Elementary.

Routt County Veterans gathered at the old Routt County Courthouse in downtown Steamboat today to wave at those driving by since they couldn’t have a ceremony either. Oak Creek and Yampa are both having small ceremonies honoring veterans in South Routt.

From Routt County Public Health… Numbers of COVID cases are still up. Be careful and stay safe. Help make COVID stop with you.
