The Steamboat Springs School Board has decided on what type of school will be on the November ballot. It will be a new Kindergarten through 8th grade campus at Steamboat II, which is on the west end of Steamboat. The board voted unanimously. The future of the school depends on whether voters agree to pass a bond in November. The total amount could be $83.9 million dollars.

The annual Cops, Vets, and Kids Fishing Day is this evening. It’s at the Little Rascals Pond which is at the Moffat County Public Safety Center on 1st Street. The waters are stocked. It’s free to fish for all kids and their families. It happens for an hour, starting at 5:30 p.m. but it’s best to get there early to register. Organizers have some awards and prizes. Local veterans will be there with free food. Also Craig Police officers, Moffat County Sheriffs officers, members of the Colorado State Patrol, and agents from Colorado Parks and Wildlife will be there, with some extra poles if needed.

A woman named Paula Francis walked through Craig, Hayden, and Steamboat this week. She’s been walking for six years, hoping to walk 10,000 miles. On the way, she has been interviewing people to learn what makes people happy. Francis has made it 7,000 miles so far. She says she plans to end her walk sometime this year, and then publish the results of her happiness study.
