KRAI News for Wednesday, July 10, 2019

Moffat County is preparing to battle mosquitos. They could be bad this year, because of so much standing water. A mosquito was caught near the South Beach Boat Ramp about five miles south of Craig late last month. It tested positive for West Nile Virus. The City of Craig is working with Mountain Air Spray to spray the city for mosquitos. Moffat County Commissioners have given approval to spray more, if needed, since it is because it is a health and safety issue. Kari Ladrow is the public health director for both Moffat and Routt Counties. She says there haven’t been any human cases of West Nile Virus so far this year in the region, but there were 96 last year. And three people died.

Moffat County Weed and Pest will be spraying for mosquitos in and around Maybell this Friday, or this coming Monday, depending on the weather. If you have questions, call 970-824-9184.
