A drug dealer in Summit County is headed to jail for three years. 30-year-old Dennis Tierney was sentenced for his role in the drug overdose death of James Nicholas, who died after taking a lethal dose of heroin laced with fentanyl. Tierney pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide and unlawful distribution of heroin in September.

Five people were arrested and charged with felonies just outside of Rifle earlier this month. It happened when shots were fired at a house on Gage Road and officers responded. Garfield County Sheriffs got an arrest warrant, and seized evidence of equipment used in meth and heroin usage and distribution. Then they found a stolen car, and when searching it, they found more drugs, and two guns that had been reported stolen out of Weld County.

The Craig Cemetery was more lively than normal weekend. Dan Davidson from the Museum of Northwest Colorado was taking people on historic tours of the cemetery. Local actors made it more real by posing at the headstones of the Moffat County characters they portrayed.

Trick or Treat Street is Wednesday evening in downtown Craig. Local businesses will be handing out candy to trick or treaters from 4-6 p.m. Halloween night, on Yampa Avenue, from 6th Street to East Victory Way.

Local families in Meeker are putting together shoebox gifts for children overseas. It’s part of Operation Christmas Child. The drop-off location is at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Meeker, Nov. 12-19. Annual maintenance is happening right now at the hydroelectric plant on the dam at Ruedi Reservoir. It also means a popular fishing hole there, known as the “Toilet Bowl” is closed. Here’s Mike Porras with Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
