Moffat County has three new cases of COVID-19 today. The three cases were identified as close contacts of people previously reported as positive for COVID-19. Two are male teenagers. One is a woman in her 50s. All live in Moffat County. This brings the total number of positive cases of the Coronavirus to 23.

The Haven Assisted Living Facility in Hayden is reporting two new positive cases of COVID-19. One resident and one staff member have the virus. The employee is from Moffat County. Staff and residents of The Haven will continue to be monitored for symptoms of the virus and will be tested weekly. These are the first positive cases out of The Haven, which is home to 20 residents.

The 2020 Meeker Classic Sheepdog Championships Trials are canceled this summer because of the COVID-19 virus. The Herald Times reports that the board of the Meeker Classic says it’s the most responsible thing to do for the safety of everyone involved. It will be a big economic impact on the Meeker community. Event organizers say the Meeker Classic will be back in September of 2021.

MusicFest in Steamboat Springs won’t be happening in January. John Dickson is the founder and producer of MusicFest, which is a music festival of Texas and Americana bands. He says despite 35 years in Steamboat, MusicFest will be postponed for everyone’s safety during the pandemic.

Dickson made the announcement on YouTube and you can see that video on our Facebook page. He says MusicFest will be back in Steamboat Jan. 5-12, in 2022.

Craig City Council meets tonight. Council will get an update on Memorial Regional Health from CEO Andy Daniels, and also Chandler Larsen who is the Nursing Home Administrator for Sandrock Ridge Care & Rehab. Council will also be asked to approve a Special Events Permit from the Craig Chamber of Commerce for events scheduled to take place during the Moffat County Fair, Aug. 6-7. City Council chambers will be open to the public for the meetings but numbers will be limited and social distancing will be required. The meeting starts at 6:30 and a link to watch it is on the website.

The Moffat County School District is still looking for your opinion on options for the school year. The board will meet to discuss those options this Thursday, and they want to know what you think.
