 It’s swearing-in day for the two new Moffat County commissioners… Tony Bohrer and Melody Villard. They join Don Broom on the Board of County Commissioners, replacing Ray Beck and Don Cook.

In Routt County, the former mayor of Hayden has been the new Routt County Commissioner for a week now. Tim Redmond gave a big thanks to Routt County employees, for helping him get up to speed in his first week on the job.

Also, in Routt County, commissioners there have lifted the hiring freeze which has been in effect since April.

Craig City Council meets tonight. Colorado Department of Transportation is making a presentation to council at 5 p.m. The council meeting is at 6:30. David Bruce Cummings will be sworn in as the new councilmember, replacing Tony Bohrer, since he is the new Moffat County Commissioner. Council will discuss a resolution making the Craig Press the official newspaper for the City of Craig. It’s for posting legal notices. Council will also hear a report from Craig Police for the months of November and December.

The Visit Moffat County/Moffat County Tourism Association is meeting at 3 p.m. Wednesday. They will be picking their new logo and Moffat County entrance sign and set up Tourism Week for 2021. You can listen via zoom.

The City of Craig has also been awarded a $1.8 million dollar grant. Another $2.1 million dollar grant has been awarded to the City of Steamboat Springs. The grants are from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs Energy Impact Fund. That’s two grants for $4 million dollars to Northwest Colorado to support the region’s use of renewable energy. It is to be used for solar projects in the cities of Craig, Steamboat Springs, Oak Creek, Hayden, and Yampa. Also solar projects will be provided to the Moffat County School District, Yampa Valley Regional Airport, and both Routt and Moffat Counties. The grant fund will be used to buy down the payback period for each partner to a 10-year period. Construction for the solar projects will start in the spring.

A pop-up Driver’s License clinic is in Meeker this Thursday afternoon, and then again Friday morning. You have to make an appointment to go to the Driver’s License clinic. Their website is MyDMV.colorado.gov. Or you can call 720-295-2965. The next pop-up Driver’s License Clinic in Meeker will be Feb. 11-12.

In Rangely, Travis LeBleu has been named the Firefighter of the Year by the Rangely Rural Fire Protection District.
