Casey’s Pond in Steamboat Springs

A resident at Casey’s Pond Senior Living Center in Steamboat Springs has died. While the official cause of death has not been confirmed, the resident had tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Casey’s Pond says they expect state and local health departments will confirm the death is from COVID-19. Another resident has also tested positive but is asymptomatic. Isolation protocols will continue at Casey’s Pond. Two of the assisted living neighborhoods will not offer dining or group activities right now. Before this most recent case, 12 residents of Casey’s Pond have died from COVID.

Vaccinations continue in Moffat County today. Public Health is giving many people their second dose of the Moderna vaccine for COVID-19.

Routt County residents continue to get vaccinated, many in Moffat County because spots have been available. Here’s Jennifer Riley, the Chief Operating Officer for Memorial Regional Health.

Those from Routt County who have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine stands at 11,493 which is 45%. The number of Routt County residents who are fully vaccinated is at 7,003, which is 27%. Those who are fully vaccinated who are over 60 years old is at 75%.

Tia Murry is the new Director of the Department of Human Services for both Moffat and Rio Blanco Counties. She’ll be working in Craig three days a week and then in Rio Blanco County on two days. Murry has been at the job for about two months now. Tia Murry’s email:

The Aging Master Program is being offered through Northwest Colorado Health, every Thursday afternoon, starting April 15 through June 17. The program is for older adults and will be at the Craig Chamber of Commerce. It’s $20 per person for the 10-week course. Learn more at the website for Northwest Colorado Health.

The South Routt School district is accepting registration for preschool and kindergarten students for the upcoming school year. Children should be 3, 4 or 5 years of age by October 1, 2021.
