A young driver was in a crash Wednesday afternoon near Moffat County High School. The Craig Press reports that the young man was in a Jeep at a friend’s house and was headed back to campus when he lost control of the car when headed downhill. It went off the road and hit a pile of rocks. No one was hurt and law enforcement is investigating.

A Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper was rear-ended about 7:15 a.m. Wednesday morning, but wasn’t hurt. The trooper was sitting at an intersection in Cheyenne, Wyoming, when a car coming up behind him didn’t stop, and crashed into the trooper’s car. The 55-year-old Cheyenne resident who was driving the car was arrested and got a ticket for driving under the influence of alcohol and following too closely.

AT&T has added a new cell tower to its 4G LTE network. The Craig Press reports it’s near the town of Lay, which is east of Craig. The cell tower will provide faster and more reliable wireless service, especially along Highway 40.

Start saving up your reusable bags if you’re shopping in Steamboat Springs. There’s less than a week left until the Steamboat plastic bag ban kicks in at the grocery stores, Walmart and Walgreens. The ban starts Oct. 1. You’ll need to remember to bring in your own reusable bags. Or you have to pay 20 cents for a paper bag at the grocery stores.

Steamboat Ski Resort is moving up opening day this year, to Saturday, Nov. 23. That’s the weekend before Thanksgiving. The new $15 million gondola should be ready to go, getting skiers and riders up the mountain nearly 38 percent faster than in the past.

Two Moffat County golfers have qualified for the state championships. David Andujo and Tanner Etzler each qualified at the 3A Region 4 Tournament in Aspen. The 3A State Championships are Oct. 7-8 at the Eisenhower Golf Course at the US Air Force Academy, just outside of Colorado Springs.

Don’t forget about a couple of soccer games today. Both the CNCC men and women’s soccer teams play Snow College from Utah this afternoon. The men play at 1 p.m. and the women are at 3 p.m. and those games are at Loudy-Simpson Park.

The Craig Middle School volleyball team is playing at 4 p.m. today in Steamboat. The middle school football team has a game at 4:30 in Rawlins, Wyoming.
