A 24-year-old Routt County man was killed Saturday in a snowmobile accident. Hayden Savage died when the snowmobile he was riding veered off Routt County Road 16, near Stagecoach Reservoir. Savage was very involved with building mountain bike trails in the area, with Routt County Riders.

Three snowmobilers are safe after getting lost in Wyoming. The Albany County Sheriff’s office received a call about the three missing men from the Greeley area. Their cell phones were pinged and in three different areas. Search and rescue was able to find the men and get them out safely.

Don’t fall for another phone scam. It has to do with customers of Yampa Valley Electric Association. Someone calls and says you’ll lose power and electricity in your house if you don’t pay your electric bill right away over the phone. It isn’t true.

The Jury Duty Scam is happening again, especially in Sweetwater County in Wyoming. Swindlers call and say they’re law enforcement and that you’re under arrest because you missed jury duty. Then they want money to get you off the hook. It’s a scam, even though it looks like a local phone call. Don’t fall for that one either, and don’t give anyone your credit card number, or any personal or financial information over the phone, ever.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife wants to remind everyone that mule deer are in rut. It’s their mating season. Be careful around bucks because they can act aggressively this time of year. One buck attacked three dogs in a residential area in Durango. The rut lasts until mid-December.

Snowplow drivers are needed. Colorado Department of Transportation needs 100 drivers to plow snow, and do highway maintenance. There is at least one opening for a part-time employee on the Rabbit Ears Pass route.

The Aspen Camp for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is suspending its operations for a year. The campus at Old Snowmass is shutting down to try to “reinvent” the 51-year-old nonprofit. The camp owes more than $145,000 in payroll taxes. And Airbnb renters vandalized the cabins last year during the X Games.

In wrestling, Soroco and Hayden are at the Middle Park Panther Invite on Saturday. Moffat County wrestlers have an exhibition match tonight at 6, at the high school. And they’re in Grand Junction this weekend.

Local basketball teams are off to tournaments in Meeker, Grand Junction and La Jara.

In swimming, the Moffat County Girls swim team is off to the Delta Invitational tomorrow. Then they’re headed to Colorado Mesa in Grand Junction on Saturday.
