Snow and very cold temperatures will continue through Wednesday. Forecasters expect up to a foot of snow in West Routt County with 18 inches of snow in other parts of the county by Wednesday night. The snow should hit Moffat County late Monday through Tuesday. Temperatures could get down to 13 degrees in Craig so bundle up tonight. There is a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 6 p.m. for Moffat and Routt Counties. Snow and cold hits hard again Tuesday night, and the overnight temps could be below zero on Wednesday. Halloween should be clear but cold with a high near 30, and a low of one degree at the witching hour.
Saturday was the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. Craig Police report that over 66 pounds of prescription and over-the-counter medications were collected in the Craig Walmart parking lot. This was 13 more pounds than last year. Drug Take-Back Day was organized by Craig Police, and the Craig Walmart, also the Memorial Regional Health-Open Heart Advocates and the Moffat County Coroner’s Office. The next Drug Take-Back Day will be in the spring.
One thing that wasn’t collected Saturday was vaping products. The DEA decided on Friday that vaping products could be collected, but on such short notice, nothing came in. Those products will be collected in the spring at the next Drug Take-Back Day.
Diane Mitsch Bush of Steamboat Springs is again running for the U.S. congressional seat currently held by Republican Scott Tipton of Cortez. Tipton defeated Mitsch Bush in 2018 to represent Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District which covers nearly the entire Western Slope of Colorado, as well as parts of southeast Colorado, including Pueblo. Six candidates are running. Mitsch Bush and Tipton have raised the most money from fundraising so far.
Trick or Treat Street is this Thursday in downtown Craig. Yampa will be blocked off between Victory Way and 6th Street for trick-or-treaters to visit local businesses. There is also a Trunk or Treat event for those who want to decorate their cars. Trick or Treat Street is from 4-6 p.m. on Halloween night.
The Moffat County Cross Country teams finished strong at the 3A CHSAA State Championships in Colorado Springs. The girls team was 11th out of 20 teams, and the boys were 13th. Wyatt Mortenson runs for the Bulldogs but is from Hayden. He finished 20th out of 156.
In football, the 5-3 Bulldogs have another conference match-up against 8-0 Rifle this Friday night. They hope to rebound after last week’s big loss to Delta. But Rifle is undefeated. The Rifle game is away, and it starts at 7 p.m., and you can listen to it on KRAI. After all of the 2A football games in the Western Slope League last weekend, the Bulldogs stayed ranked at 14th in the league.

Soroco got shut out by West Grand, 44-0 Friday. Hayden crushed Denver Christian, 44-6. Hayden and Soroco face off against each other in the big end-of-season rivalry. That game is at 7 p.m. this Friday night and it is in Hayden.
