Watch for smoke in North Routt as fire crews will be doing some prescribed burns over the next few weeks. The burns will be in the Mad Creek and Rocky Peak area in Routt National Forest. It’s a way to reduce the threat of wildfires this summer. It also improves the wildlife habitat by regenerating shrubs and aspen. More Information

Moffat County Commissioners meet tomorrow morning. Staff reports will be from Roy Tipton in the Office of Development Services and Mindy Curtis will report from Finance. John Husband with the Yampa River Legacy will present an update on the Leafy Spurge Project. The meeting starts at 8:30 a.m. and will be available on the county’s YouTube channel.

Seven Lakes Lodge and Ranch outside of Meeker.

That opulent Seven Lakes Ranch in the White River Valley outside of Meeker has sold. Pro golfer Greg Norman owned the sporting paradise and posted the sale on Instagram. The 11,900 acre hunting and fishing property was listed for $40 million dollars. That included the 13,907 square foot lodge. No word on who the new neighbors will be, or how much they paid for the Seven Lakes Ranch.

Some deadlines are coming up for programs in Craig Parks and Rec. T-Ball is for 5-6 year olds. Machine Pitch is co-ed for 7-8 year olds. Registration for T-Ball and Machine Pitch is due Wednesday. Registration for Youth Baseball and Softball is due April 7. Youth scholarships are available. Umpires and referees are needed.

Also, the Craig Swimming Complex is hiring. You have to be 14 years old to apply or 15 years old to be a lifeguard.

The spring football season continues for the Steamboat Sailors, unfortunately with another loss. This time to Basalt on Saturday, 34-14. The Sailors travel to Salida for a game Friday night.

In volleyball, the Moffat County girls lost to Gunnison in their home opener Saturday. The loss came after a win over Rifle last week, putting the Lady Bulldogs at 1-1. Moffat County has another match with Rifle at home today and then another home match against Coal Ridge Tuesday. The C-Team plays at 4:30, JV at 5:30, and Varsity at 6:30 p.m.

The Soroco girls are undefeated without losing any games so far, and a big 3-zip win over Rangely Saturday. The Steamboat girls are 2-1 in the 4A Western Slope League, beating Glenwood on Saturday.
