KRAI News for Friday, Nov. 30, 2018

A high-speed chase Thursday morning ended just past Kremmling. It started very early with a box truck stolen from Alpine Lumber in Steamboat, and then seen headed out of town. It was spotted near the foot of the pass, on the road headed to Walden. Items in the truck were being transferred to a Subaru. Colorado State Patrol was involved and spotted the car, and that’s when the high-speed chase started, running 23 miles, all the way through Kremmling. Ray Jennings with the Grand County Office of Emergency Management, said stop sticks were used.

Law enforcement used a drone and K9s to find the second suspect, who was found in the water hiding under the banks of the Colorado River. The men arrested are 29-year-old Kyle Hallaran of Johnstown and 28-year-old Justin Davis of Loveland.  Jeff Wilson with Steamboat Police says ten agencies worked together to make it happen.

Both men are in the Grand County Jail in Hot Sulphur Springs, pending charges from Grand and Routt Counties.

The proposed budget for 2019 for the City of Craig didn’t pass the second and final reading at the City Council meeting Tuesday. Mayor John Ponikvar was out of town for the meeting, so the vote was deadlocked. The point of contention is the new City Department of Economic Development, and whether it should be created, and included in the budget, for $100,000. Council will have to hold another second reading of the budget. City Council meets again Dec. 11.
