Whittle the Wood will be back in Craig this summer, after having to be canceled last summer because of COVID. The Rendezvous this year will be June 23-26. It’s a new date so as not to conflict with other events. The Chainsaw Carving Competition will be free. Friday has the Bear River Younglife Car Show with live music from “The Williams Brothers Band” and the “Robert Randolph Band.”
All events at the park on Saturday will be free during the day. The bands on Saturday will be “Black Mountain Riot” and the Indie Rock Band, “The Verve Pipe.” The grand finale act is “Everclear.” You’ll need a ticket for the live music events and those go on sale April 9 at www.Whittlethewood.com
The Open Burn season for the Steamboat Springs Fire Protection District ends April 15. But it could end sooner if there is less than six inches of snow on the ground. Right now, open burns in Routt County can only be conducted with ditch burning for irrigation, weed control, or production of a crop, or to reduce slash piles to help with wildland fire mitigation. Call Routt County Environmental Health to get an open burn permit.
Open burning in Moffat County is regulated by seasonal fire restrictions, as conditions dictate.
