A man from Hayden has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting his stepdaughter. The 50-year-old man faces third-degree felony charges of sexually assaulting a child while in a position of trust. The name of the accused man, and the girl, along with her age, are not being released to protect the identity of the victim. The man posted a $2,000 bond at the Routt County Detention Center.

Whittle the Wood continues today with 12 carvers competing at Loudy-Simpson Park. Bongo Love is from Boulder via Zimbabwe first carved in Craig and is back for his 12th year.

Yes, he is confident. Love says everyone should learn to whittle the wood.

Bongo and all of the carvers are working on their carvings today and tomorrow. Winners will be named Saturday afternoon, before the Leftover Salmon concert. And remember, dogs are not allowed at Whittle the Wood.

The summer reading program is underway at Moffat County Library in Craig. There are activities, and a space camp, and story times. Here’s Library Services Coordinator Keisha Bickford.

Story times are at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Thursdays. Get a reading log at the library, and once completed, you can get some nice incentives. There is also a big book sale going on at the library right now. Details are on the Moffat County Libraries Facebook page.

The Summer Blitz DUI enforcement starts today in Colorado. Local law enforcement, Colorado State Patrol, and Colorado Department of Transportation are joining forces to catch impaired drivers and protect Colorado roadways. Last year for the ten days of Summer Blitz DUI, there were 584 arrests. So don’t drive drunk, or on drugs, and buckle up. They’ll get you for that, too.

The mens and womens rugby teams in Steamboat are practicing for the summer season, and they’re looking for players from anywhere in Northwest Colorado, including Moffat County. Here’s Chereen Schwarz.

Practices for both men and women’s rugby teams are from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, at Whistler Park in Steamboat. Both teams also have Facebook pages, for more information. You’ll need cleats and a mouth guard. The men have their first game tomorrow. Here’s Jacob Warden.

Steamboat plays the Gentlemen of Aspen at 1 p.m. Saturday at Whistler Park.

This week was the 50th Annual Northwest Colorado 4-H Expo at the Routt County Fairgrounds in Hayden. 94 4-H kids participated from Routt, Moffat, Grand, Jackson, Eagle and Rio Blanco counties.
