The unexpectedly heavy snowfall caused issues all across Northwest Colorado yesterday. In one incident a jackknifed semi blocked both lanes of Highway 40 on Rabbit Ears Pass near the intersection of Highway 14. The lanes were blocked in both directions from around 2 to 5:30 yesterday afternoon, although traffic was able to pass using the shoulder of the highway. High winds, blowing snow and an icy roadway are believed to have contributed to the accident. Photo courtesy of the Colorado State Patrol, click to enlarge.
