The identity of the pilot who died when his plane went down 15 miles west of Meeker Thursday night, is expected to be released shortly, after positive identification and notification of next of kin. The body was recovered from the crash site and transported to Grand Junction where and an autopsy will be conducted today. The National Transportation Safety Board has assumed responsibility for investigating the crash. Keith Halloway with the NTSB told Wild West Radio News this morning, that a report of the full investigation into a crash normally takes between 12 and 18 months. But he did expect the NTSB will release a preliminary report by the end of this week. The preliminary report may include communications between the pilot and air traffic control, weather conditions and information about the location of the crash. The pilot was the sole occupant of the 6 passenger airplane. Photo: stock photo of a Bonanza 35 airplane similar to the downed aircraft.
