Wyoming Highway Patrol increased their activity along Interstate I-80 last month as part of an intra-state enforcement effort along the Highway. Highway Patrol Officers from all the states that I-80 runs through were out from April 10th to the 14th, looking for criminal activity including human and drug trafficking. During this time period, the Wyoming Highway Patrol and their K-9’s stayed busy confiscating nearly 16 pounds of methamphetamines, 249 pounds of marijuana, nearly a pound of ecstasy and smaller amounts of various prescription medications. In total, these seizures resulted in 21 drug related felony charges and 13 misdemeanors. In addition to the drug arrests, the Wyoming Highway Patrol also found a juvenile missing person and arrested two sex offenders who were in violation of the sex offender registry. After the enforcement period ended, the Wyoming highway patrol initiated a stop west of Cheyenne on April 19th that resulted in 360 pounds of marijuana being seized.
