Highway 40 Head On Kills One

One person was killed in a head on accident Monday afternoon on Highway 40. 35-year-old Felix Cervantes of Denver was attempting to pass in a no passing zone about 27 miles east of Steamboat, when he collided with a car being driven by Lienchai Harker of Breckenridge. Both Cervantes and Harker were transported via helicopter to a hospital in Denver. The passenger in Harker’s vehicle, 24-year-old James Fagan of Breckenridge, was pronounced dead on the scene. Both Harker and Fagan were wearing seat-belts at the time of the accident. Charges against Cervantes have yet to be filed and are pending the results of the investigation.
