High Avalanche Danger In The Backcountry

Avalanche conditions are high in areas of the Flat Tops and Routt National Forest near Rabbit Ears Pass. Avalanches may be triggered, especially on steep slopes in these areas. Those planning backcountry excursions over the next few days, and into the weekend, should use extra caution. To avoid triggering an avalanche, it’s recommended snowmobilers and others in the back country stick to slopes with an angle of less than 30 degrees and avoid traveling on slopes with avalanche terrain located above.
