Hickenlooper May Demand Carbon Emission Reductions

JOHN-HICKENLOOPER-300Colorado Governor, John Hickenlooper is considering instituting an executive order that would require the states power sector to reduce its carbon emissions by 35%, by the year 2030. A spokesman from Hickenlooper’s office said that the executive order is still in a rough draft phase, the governor is taking input and having discussions, but no formal decision has been made. If implemented the mandatory cuts would have a large effect on Colorado’s coal industry, which accounts for 87% of the state’s power sector carbon emissions.
