Hickenlooper and Beauprez Debate

BEAUPREZJOHN-HICKENLOOPER-300Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob Beauprez challenged Democratic Governor John Hickenlooper to answer whether he intends to grant clemency to a death row inmate before Hickenlooper leaves office. Hickenlooper says he has no intention to revisit his decision to grant an indefinite reprieve to Nathan Dunlap, who was convicted of killing four people at an Aurora Chuck E. Cheese. The exchange was one of the liveliest at the first debate Saturday evening in Grand Junction between the two candidates. Hickenlooper touts Colorado’s economy as one of best of the nation and mentions that during his time in office the state reversed a $1 billion budget shortfall and that many sectors are adding jobs. Beauprez describes the state’s economy as middle-of-the-pack and says he can improve it.  Pictured: left-Bob Beauprez; right-John Hickenlooper
