14th Judicial District Attorney Brett Barkey has asked the District’s Grand Jury to investigate the September 15th, incident in Tabernash where Grand County Sheriff Brett Schroetlin shot and wounded a suspect. Schroetlin says the suspect attacked him with a knife. Senate Bill 15-219 requires the District Attorney to announce when an officer-involved shooting is referred to a grand jury. However, that doesn’t mean the public will be kept up on the proceedings. Under Colorado law grand jury proceedings are secret. The announcement was made yesterday afternoon.
