Gardner Voices Disappointment Over Tariffs

Following President Trump’s announcement yesterday that the United States will institute tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, Senator Cory Gardner released a statement voicing his disappointment over the decision. Gardner believes the president is correct when he says the US needs fair trade agreements, but he is concerned the tariffs will not have the intended impact the President is hoping for, saying he is skeptical that the tariffs will help grow the economy, or will lead to increased wages for the American people. Gardner indicated that while he is disappointed in the President’s announcement, he plans to continue working with the administration on other efforts to create jobs and spur new economic growth.
