Gardner Joins in Fight Against EPA Proposed Rule

WATER CONSERVATIONThis week, Congressman Cory Gardner (CO-04) joined Congressman Scott Tipton in opposing the Environmental Protection Agency’s latest “water grab” attempt.  Gardner and 45 Members of the Senate and Congressional Western Caucuses sent a letter to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Gina McCarthy calling on the EPA to put a stop to their contentious “Waters of the U.S” (WOTUS) rule proposal that will radically expand federal regulatory authority under the Clean Water Act.  Gardner says in a conversation he had with McCarthy, she admitted that she was not familiar with Colorado water law, compared with those in other states.  He says “It is appalling that the EPA is pushing out rules to control Colorado’s water without taking into account previous state actions.”  He says “The EPA needs to go back to the drawing board, adequately consult the states and consider all action that could harm a state’s ability to manage their own waters.”
