Gardner Joins Fight Against WOTUS Rule

gardnerSenator Cory Gardner (R-CO) announced yesterday that he has signed on as a co-sponsor to a resolution introduced by Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa which would nullify the federal infringement on water rights commonly known as the “Waters of the United States” (WOTUS) rule. The rule is currently on hold in 13 states, including Colorado, from implementation due to a ruling by a Federal Judge that it infringed on state sovereignty to govern their own water laws. In a statement, Gardner said “The WOTUS rule would give the federal government authority over small ponds, ditches, and streams in states across the country. It represents a major encroachment into the rights of states to govern their own waterways, and drastically expands the federal government’s power at the expense of farmers, ranchers, and all Coloradans concerned with local control of our water supply.” You can read the full text of the resolution Gardner is supporting, by clicking here.
