Free Turkey Hunts For Women And Kids

Colorado Parks and Wildlife is offering three mentored turkey hunts for novice hunters in Northwest Colorado. Two hunts will be available for kids between the ages of 12 and 17 who have never hunted, with another being offered for novice women. The hunts, which are part of CPW’s Hunter Outreach Program, will occur over three-days, and will focus on teaching the basics of safe and ethical turkey hunting. The hunts for youth will occur in the Meeker and Craig areas on April 14 through the 15th and April 27th through the 29th respectively. Kids should apply for just one out of the two hunts, and need to complete an application packet, including a 500 word handwritten essay describing why they should be selected over the other applicants. The Women’s Turkey Hunt will be held near Parachute April 21st through the 22nd.  Additional information on the different hunts is available below.
