Bird lovers are invited to join in on bird walk and attend a free bird identification class this week in Rawlins. A free bird walk will be held Tuesday morning starting at 7:30, to celebrate International Migratory Bird Day. Participants will meet at the Conoco gas Station off the Elk Mountain 255 exit and will then visit bird watching sites in the Elk Mountain Area. The walk will last for four or five hours and will cover mostly flat terrain. Participants should wear hiking boots and should bring binoculars or a camera, sunscreen or a hat, bug spray, a snack and water. The Bureau of Land Management will also host a class Thursday night, where participants will learn how to identify 15 different species of birds that can be found in Wyoming. The class will be held from 7 to 8 at the BLM Rawlins Field Office. For additional information on the bird identification class or the walk, call (307)328-4370 or (307)328-4207.
