Former State Senator White To Run Again As An Independent

Colorado-Rep-Al-White

Former Republican State Senator Al White announced his intention to again represent Northwest Colorado in Senate District 8.  This time as an Independent. White served Northwest Colorado in the House from 2001 to 2008 and in the State Senate from 2008 to 2011, he vacated his State Senate seat in favor of being appointed as the Director of the Colorado Tourism office.  Upon his departure, White’s Senate seat was filled by his wife Jean, who was appointed to the position.  She held that office for only a short time, failing in a primary bid to retain her seat.  Jean White was defeated by Randy Baumgardner, who was elected to the Senate and still retains that seat.  In July 2015 White took a position at the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade.  White said that he intends to bring a truly independent voice to the State Capitol.  He will be facing Republican incumbent Randy Baumgardner, and Democratic challenger Emily Tracy.
